December, 2010 recess: 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
February, 2011 recess: 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 25th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
April, 2011 recess: 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
June, 2011 (school’s out): 28th, 29th, 30th, and July 1st 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day
August, 2011 (school’s out): 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day

Details: 

All camps open to Grades K-12th. Chess Players will be separated based on skill level and/or age. Only 6 students allowed per level.

 

Novice: Chess Discovery Camp

This chess camp is intended for chess players who do not know how pieces move. Campers will learn piece movements, basic strategy, and elementary chess tactics. Each camper will receive a portfolio of chess lessons learned and supplementary material at the conclusion of the camp.

 

Beginner: Chess Explorers Camp

This chess camp is intended for chess players who have a complete understanding of the rules of chess. Campers will learn the fundamental tactics and strategy to get to the next level. Along the way they will learn some basic tricks and traps to outsmart their opponents.

 

 

Intermediate: Chess Expressions Camp

Our Chess Expressions Camp is specially developed for students who have previously played in USCF-rated or Fide-rated Chess tournament. Campers will learn to fine-tune their chess game. and will receive an opening repertoire to maximize their strengths.

 

Advance: Chess Champions Camp

ICI's Chess Champions Camp is for chess players with a 1600+ rating.

 

 

Who can join?: 

Motivated young people in grades K to 12 interested in getting better at chess from beginner to advanced.

 

EF: 

Each camp is $100 for International Chess Institute members and $225 for non-members. Parents with more than one child in the camp can get a discount—only $50 per child.

 

ICI Junior Membership—$100 (1-year membership)

ICI Family Membership—$125 (1-year membership)

 

Although we offer 6 month memberships a 1-year membership is required to receive the special member's rate to the ICI Chess Camp.

Instructor: 

The lead instructor will be Kent Leung, recognized as the best scholastic chess coach in New England. Kent has coached the most players to compete in the Massachusetts Scholastic State Championship every year for the last decade. In Massachusetts, he has coached 8 state champions in 8 years and 6 national champions, (A New England Record).

 

Our senior instructor will be Abelardo Cadavid a well-known instructor (highest rating 2435) who has coached numerous national championship teams, and throughout the camp we will have various guest instructors.

 

Our full staff of certified professional chess coaches and proven success makes ICI one of the best chess camps in North America.
